Cinderella was found dead at the ball as in 2025 the tournament had the fewest upsets in NCAA history. No top-four seed lost in the First Round and All 12 games of the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight were won by the higher-seeded team. For the first time since 2008, every 1 seed advanced as it the dominance of Auburn, Florida, Duke and Houston was on full display.

The first round saw mostly chalk with a couple iconic 12 over 5 upsets as McNeese and Colorado St advanced in big wins while all other favourites cruised to big wins.

Round Two saw Coach Cal take down Rick Pitino, sharpshooting BYU embodied Jimmer to advance to the Sweet 16, while Auburn, Florida and Houston all survived tough challenges. Derik Queen hit a big time buzzer beater for the Crab Five and Maryland to take down the Rams of Colorado St.

In the Regionals, Texas Tech pulled and incredible comeback against Arkansas (only to blow a lead to Florida in the next round) while Alabama shot the lights out hanging 110 on BYU setting the record for most threes made in NCAA Tournament history

The Final Four lived up to expectations as Florida erased a first half deficit against Auburn, while Houston stunned Duke coming back 6 points down with 33 seconds left to upset the tournament favourite making those who picked Duke feel like Jason Isaacs in the White Lotus

Having came back against at least a 6 point deficit every game since the 2nd Round, the Gators did it when it mattered most with a 12 point second half comeback with shutdown defence and suspect shooting to chomp the Cougars en route to their 1st championship since 2007.
