TIE-BREAK FORMAT

The tie breaker is determined by the lowest sum of the two absolute value differences. What the hell does that mean? Here's some examples....

In this entirely hypothetical scenario, Duke is playing Kentucky for the National Championship

In addition there is a tie in the FBC between Pete Davidson and Kanye West

Pete

77-74 Duke

Kanye

82-73 Duke

EXAMPLE #1

If the final score were to be 80-70 for Villanova....

Pete

Pete's Score would be 7

Subtract the prediction from the actual score and take the absolute values

Duke - 80-77= 3

Kentucky-70-74=|-4|= 4

Then add the differences

3+4=7

Kanye

Kayne's  score would be 5

Duke - 82-80=2

Kentucky- 70-73=|-3|=3

2+3=5

Pete 7 Kanye 5.

Kayne West would win.

EXAMPLE #2

If the score is 75-70 Duke.....

Pete

Duke 77-75= 2

Kentucky 74-70= 4

2+4=6

Kanye

Duke 82-75= 7

Kentucky 72-73=1

7+1=8

Pete 6 Kanye 8.

Pete would win scenario #2

EXAMPLE #3

If there is another tie....

We go to closest combined final score. This might seem outlandish but this actually happened in 2018. It was pretty nuts

Kanye West

153

Pete Davidson

151

If the combined final score is 152, we will have Co-Champions. Kanye and Pete will spilt the winnings.
