History has been made at the 15th annual FBC as Jake Wilson goes 16/16 and still has a perfect bracket after Day 1. On the other side of the coin, Matt Betton also makes history losing his finalists (Louisville and High Point) in the first two games of the tournament.
It was a relatively calm opening day as many one sided games dominated the afternoon, including Gonzaga smacking now fraudulent Georgia while Mcneese and their famous team manager takes down Clemson despite a valiant comeback from the Tigers.
The evening slate saw mid-major darling Drake take down now also fraudulent Missouri and John Calipari’s Arkansas stave off Kansas setting up a matchup against Rick Pitino while Michigan squeaked out a win against the sharpshooting Tritons from UC San Diego.
After a quiet Thursday many will be insatiable for chaos to arrive on Friday. Be careful what you wish for because I feel they’ll be a couple more busted brackets by this time tomorrow.
The weekend kicks off with 16 more games tomorrow, the madness is just beginning!
FADER’S THOUGHTS
I honestly never thought I’d see someone go perfect during Day 1 and win a free drink. I probably wouldn’t have offered it if I knew. Big congrats to Jake on staying perfect and making history! Now the question is, how far can his perfect bracket go
The Severance season finale is tonight and I wish I could erase memory of my bracket as I sit in 72nd place. What was I thinking with the High Point and Montana picks? At least the Vols and Red Storm look strong
As devastating as it is to get your bracket busted just hours in its admittedly hilarious it happened to Matt. You can’t feel too bad, as a 8 vs 13 seed in the final is puzzling to say the least (jk Matt, one of these years you’re going to take it all… I can feel it!)
