DAY 2 STANDINGS UPDATE

The Saint Mary’s Gaels will live in infamy as the team that ruined Jake Wilson's bid for a perfect 1st Round as Jake hits every game to but one to go 15/16 on Friday with two Sasky boys in Adam Harradance and Gareth Royeppen sitting 2 points back.

Day 2 was yet another day of chalk favourites and blowouts with Colorado St (who was the Vegas favourite), along with New Mexico as the only double digits seeds to advance. Kentucky got its First Round doldrums solved with a win over Troy, the Crab Five showed why they get so much play time with a win over Grand Canyon, while Ole Miss staved off a furious comeback bid from North Carolina.

Florida and Duke showcased why they are the two FBC favourites, while Saint Mary’s pulls a double digit to shatter Vanderbilt's hopes and dreams and Jake’s bid for perfection.

This was as chalky as a First Round as I can remember with blowout after blowout. We still have 89 brackets still standing, however I feel like chaos is on the horizon.

Games are worth 2 points starting tomorrow! Will chalk continue to reign king? Or will madness be on the menu?

FADER'S THOUGHTS

• I know many will agree but that was the most sauce-less 1st Round in memory, blowouts, no cinderella and a lack of a "signature" moment. Many will be quick to blame NIL but it's important to remember we've been chaos spoiled the last few years. Two years ago we had a 16 over a 1 and a 9 seed in the Final Four. Fear not, March always delivers. I have a feeling a 1 seed might not make it to next weekend

  
  

• Even with all the chalk Jake's run is absolutely incredible, especially since Vandy was up double digits. Every 8/9 game right and both 12-5 upsets. Previously the FBC record for the best 1st round was 28, 31 is sure to stand the test of time.

  
  

• There will never be a situation where picking a double-digit seed to win it all is a good idea in the Fader Bracket challenge. Risk taking is essentail, but making that pick is a good way to donate $30. To quote the big short "This is Wall Street Mr.Burry, if you offer us free money we will take it"

  
  

• The Bear and Kilt is slowly turning into my favourite spot on Stephen Ave, darts and pints, what more could you ask for?
